Birthday Wishes

Happy Hump Day aka Wednesday!!  I hope you are having a great week thus far!  I have been keeping myself busy with designing projects for some classes I’m teaching in March. They will be my first ever and I’m really excited about them!  I will share my projects with you once I’m all done with my samples.  Eeek!!

I made a couple cards yesterday in between cleaning and organizing, so I have something to share today!  A fairly simple card (aren’t mine all?!) using Pebbles and Hero Arts goodies.

BE Inspired Challenge: Welcome Little One

There is a new stamp company in town!  The Alley Way Stamps has some really cute designs and when they came out with their first release, I picked up the set Priceless Joy. Can I just say how much I love the images in this stamp set!  LOVE!!

So The Alley Way Stamps has a new challenge that just started up called BE Inspired.  I really love the color palette so I had to play along!  I used just a few of the colors in the inspiration picture to create my card (red, turquoise, linen and mustard yellow).  I used some October Afternoon patterned paper and Spellbinders Nestabilities in addition to the Priceless Joy stamp set to make this long and skinny card.  It’s hard to tell from the picture, but I waved out the sentiment banner so it looks like it’s blowing in the wind.

The End of January

Where has the month gone?  It seems like we were ringing in the new year only a few days ago and now we’re almost to the end of January.  I’ve been busy, busy in my crafty area but nothing I can show just yet.  Once CHA is done I’ll have some things to share finally!

A couple people posted in the comments of a previous post asking about the CHA Designer Showcase and wanting to know what it is.  The CHA Designer Showcase is a room of table-top displays put together by CHA Designer Members that act as three-dimensional portfolios for the creative services designers can provide to the industry. I’ve been hard at work on my display for a couple weeks now and I am so happy to say it’s all coming together and I think I may finish it a day or two early.  I promise to show pictures of my display once I get home from CHA next week!  Until then, I have a simple but sparkly bookmark to share with you. You probably won’t hear from me again until Friday, so until then…Have a great week!

Rainbow Bright Birthday

Happy Friday!!  I was playing with some new-to-me papers from Pretty Little Studio tonight and came up with this fun birthday card for this week’s Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger challenge.  I *love* the little “Hello My Name Is” journaling cards!  So adorable! The balloons on the card were kind of an afterthought. After I had the card finished, I thought it needed something more, so in came the balloons.

I’m participating in the Designer Showcase at CHA-W in Anaheim at the end of the month and have been busy at work on my display.  I want to make it the absolute best I can, so that is where my focus will be for the remainder of the month.  If my blog seems kind of quiet, that is why.

Happy Holiday Tree

I have a step-son that we typically get every other weekend.  We don’t ever get him for the big holidays, so for things like Christmas, we usually wait a week or so after the holiday before we celebrate at our house.  I think we are still waiting to hear if he is coming over this weekend or not, so for now Christmas at our house is on hold.  The reason I’m mentioning this, is maybe you will forgive me for today’s Christmas card and the more to come…  I know a lot (most?) people are moving on, but not me.  Not yet!

Chalkboard Tags

First off, thank you so much to those who left comments on my Tuesday Trigger win – I really appreciate it!!

The last couple of days have been busy for me!  I am a new designer member with CHA and will have a space in the Designer Showcase so I have been busy planning things out.  I know the show is still 6 weeks out, but the time will go by fast!!  Anyone else going to CHA?

I have a fun tag to share with you today.  I used a sheet of 1/64″ birch plywood and used my Spellbinders dies to cut out the shapes of my tag.  I then used some chalkboard paint and painted the cut out wood shapes.  I did two coats then let it dry overnight.  After rubbing chalk on the painted wood and then rubbing it off, it was ready to use!  This was a really easy project to make.  I love that you can use them over and over again!  A different theme/holiday – tons of possibilities!

ETA:  I have a card featured on the Paper Smooches blog today!  Yay!!
